ABSTRACT

THIS IS AN exciting and challenging time for early years practitioners, as the government has recently introduced the most significant changes in the delivery of children’s services for a generation. These changes bring with them particular challenges for those with an existing leadership and/or management role and those who aspire to become a leader or manager. First, this chapter will outline and discuss some of the changes and their ramifications for leaders and managers in early years settings. Secondly, because education is one of the central tenets of the new developments, the chapter will go on to discuss the development of the curriculum in an early years setting.
