ABSTRACT
RESEARCH MEANS ‘FINDING out about things’ (MacNaughton et al. 2001). It is ‘a combination of both experience and reasoning and must be regarded as the most successful approach to the discovery of truth’ (Cohen and Manion 1994). But research is only really useful if we can use it to develop early years practice to benefit the children.
