ABSTRACT

In Chapter 3 we identified able pupils by using two criteria – their visible abilities now and the potential they might have to achieve well in the future. In this chapter we shift our thinking again by considering them as a group of pupils with particular sets of needs. We shall consider the needs of able pupils who have other special educational needs. Then, in a more general sense, we shall examine the needs of more able pupils and how they can be supported outside of the classroom.
