ABSTRACT
This chapter is a controversial one in many ways. It deals with aspects of teaching history which need to be considered, but which are not as straightforward as some textbooks would suggest. These aspects are:
chronology and teaching about time;
outline and background knowledge;
the use of QCA schemes of work and commercial schemes;
the use of ICT in all its forms;
assessment.
