ABSTRACT
In this chapter we set out step-by-step guidance for anyone wishing to undertake an efficacy evaluation study similar to the ones featured in this book. Our intention in doing this is not to be prescriptive or patronising but to make the research process more transparent and less daunting to novice researchers. Experienced researchers may find this chapter less useful and prefer to move on to Chapter 17 where we explore some ideas for action research projects.
