ABSTRACT
The ideas and arguments put forward in this book have rested heavily on research but I believe there are deficiencies in both the quality and the quantity of studies currently available to us. The problem mainly concerns what I call evaluation or evaluative research rather than what I call theoretical research. Therefore in this chapter I want to offer a view about what evaluation is, what it should accomplish, and how findings from evaluation studies should be shared within the education community.
