ABSTRACT

With an appreciation and understanding of the fundamentals and purposes of the IPSG, the appropriate equipment and staffing can be assembled. This Chapter focuses on methods and considerations related to preparing for and conducting an IPSG. Good preparation and well-trained IPSG technicians are essential to achieving optimal recordings in infants. The expertise and infant handling skills of the technical staff are critical to infant and caregiver comfort levels and signal quality. The following sections provide detailed descriptions, directions and examples of pre-, during and post-recording procedures.
