ABSTRACT

For clinical use there are various groups of progestins available; these are classified in Table 1. The progestins include compounds with different partial effects, as shown in Table 21. The different biological effects of the various progestins are shown in Table 3 using ovulation inhibition and endometrial transformation as parameters1. The progestins can be administered in various forms: tablet, depot, patch, gel and vaginal suppository. The routes of application are: oral, parenteral, transdermal and vaginal.
