ABSTRACT
Limb threatening infection is a medicosurgical emergency. Patients have evidence of systemic toxicity due to longstanding infection. Characteristic limb threatening infections are dorsal foot infections with cellulitis (phlegmon), plantar compartment infections, and deep infections of the heel pad. Limb threatening situation indicates that it is certainly going to require nothing less than a leg amputation, unless aggressively managed.
