ABSTRACT

The truth is that medical science, though evidence based and backed by extensive scientific research, is yet plagued with far too many uncertainties. No wonder, it is doctors who treat patients and this cannot be left to the rigid stereotype of the text books or the straight-jacket of a computer. And rightly so, similarly, diseases, by not adhering to the defined pattern, often do not obey the text books. Many a clinical decision is forced on the spur of the moment, at times even banking on intuition born out of experience. At every turn, expect the unexpected would seem to be the norm. Therefore, in this quest for success, the inescapable failures are as if drilled into the game plan.
