ABSTRACT
Such evaluation can be accomplished with relative ease and should be part of the initial examination of every newly discovered hypertensive. The younger the patient and the higher the blood pressure, the more intensive the search for reversible causes should be. Among middle-aged and older patients greater attention should be directed to the overall cardiovascular risk profile, as these populations are more susceptible to immediate catastrophes unless preventive measures are taken.
