ABSTRACT

In most memory clinics, the assessment session is followed by a feedback session to discuss the investigation results, the diagnosis and the future management with the patient and carers.

Patients and carers often have questions about practical issues, including fitness to drive and the management of finances. The majority of patients and carers welcome a frank and open discussion, although in some cases carers express concern about the disclosure of the diagnosis to the patient. In these cases, it may be helpful to explain to the carers that most people do want to know their diagnosis and have the right to do so.
