The breasts are best described as paired modified sweat glands that extend from the second to the sixth rib and from the lateral border of the sternum to the midaxillary line.1 The breast lies mainly in the superficial fascia, with the axillary tail piercing the deep fascia at the lower border of the pectoralis major muscle, and comes into close contact with the axillary vessels.
