ABSTRACT
Substantial research efforts focused on the aetiology and function of the polycystic ovary (PCO) have improved our knowledge of the associated endocrine disturbances, but little progress has been made in defining the changes in the growth patterns or function of the follicles in these ovaries. Analysis of the abnormalities in polycystic ovaries reveals several distinct aspects to the problem.
