ABSTRACT
The evidence from psychophysical experiments on sensation-magnitude enhancement, adaptation, masking, and sensory learning strongly indicates that the four tactile neural systems behave as independent information-processing channels. Having established this, it now becomes important to determine if there are properties of the channels that distinguish one from another.
