The logic of the inferential test Think of a number between one and ten Suppose two groups of students (call them Group A and Group B, with 100 in each group) were asked to think of a number between 1 and 10. Suppose I added up the numbers given by Group A and divided this by 100. I would have the mean number generated by Group A. I then find the mean number for Group B.
