Spatial coding as integrative processing of inputs from vision, touch and movement: The reference hypothesis

The description of spatial coding examined in this chapter was influenced to some extent by most of the theories outlined in the previous chapter that seemed to me to make valid, but not necessarily incompatible, distinctions. It was prompted more specifically by two types of behavioural findings, together with the fact that they accorded better with the neurological evidence that was beginning to be described in terms of neural networks than with previous more rigid accounts of brain functions.
