ABSTRACT
The starting point for the analysis of nominal data on two or more attributes is a contingency table, each cell of which is the frequency of occurrence of individuals in various combinations of categories. In an earlier chapter (Chapter 11), we described the use of the chi-square test to test for the presence of an association between qualitative variables in a two-way contingency table.
