ABSTRACT

Real Life Heroes is a workbook that helps children develop self-esteem and overcome difficult experiences in their lives. The format helps children to create their own autobiographies with a wide range of activities including drawings, photographs, music, dance, videotape, posters, crafts, and narrative. Parents, grandparents, teachers, foster parents, adoptive parents, and mentors can use these stories with psychotherapists to help children replace a self-image of weakness or victimization with feelings of validation and competence.
