ABSTRACT

Laura Batcha is a folkloric herbalist and medicine maker. In the early 1990s, she began a farmer’s market business centered around bioregional herbal extracts that she turned into a national supplier of high-quality herbal tinctures and innovative formulas. At Green Mountain Herbs, Laura supervised production and formulated new products. She also coordinated with Green Mountain’s organic farm and other local producers to obtain the freshest, most potent raw materials for her extracts. As Laura mentions in the interview, Green Mountain Herbs was bought by Tom’s of Maine. Laura is currently the product development/education team leader at Tom’s of Maine. She continues to formulate, garden, and occasionally teach.
