ABSTRACT

Some researchers keep photographs or other personal pictures in their office-this is entirely up to you, but consider whether this will compromise your safety, or perhaps upset a participant (for example, if you are doing research on cot death, having your baby’s photos everywhere may not be appropriate). Keep your work area as clean or tidy as possible-particularly if it is within your home or if you are sharing office space. Don’t forget safety issues. If you work within your home, it is better to complete interviews or other work involving participants outside it, although you must not forget that you need to apply safety considerations wherever you are working (see also Chapter 6).
