ABSTRACT

This theory was developed by Megan Neilson and colleagues (Andrews et al., 1983; Neilson & Neilson, 1985, 1987, 2000; Neilson, Neilson, & O’Dwyer, 1992). We refer to it as the sensory-motor modelling theory because the author and colleagues have called it that (see Andrews et al., 1983). However, at other times it has been referred to it as a “theoretical position” (Andrews et al., 1983), a “hypothesis” (Andrews et al., 1983; Neilson & Neilson, 1987), and a “framework” (Neilson & Neilson, 2000; Neilson, et al., 1992).
