ABSTRACT

Group counseling is a strategy that is believed to be effective across cultures. Despite very few empirical studies demonstrating the efficacy of this approach, the benefits of appropriate and well-organized group programs seem to be evident (Yalom, 1995). This chapter presents a case of a 7-year-old Latino boy who benefited from a group counseling program. A number of group counseling approaches are discussed, including person centered, rational-emotive behavior therapy, and an integrated problem-solving model.
