ABSTRACT

Throughout the English-speaking world, children are coming into contact with the juvenile, family, and criminal justice systems in record numbers. In part, this surge is fuelled by increases in divorce, which often result in acrimonious custody disputes in which one parent alleges abuse or neglect by the other. Typically, such allegations result in children being interviewed by social services, mental health, or law enforcement professionals, and on occasion the children may be deposed and even asked to testify in domestic relations or family court.
