ABSTRACT
Connectionist models usually start with a predetermined architecture-a set number of units with a fixed pattern of connectivity between them. The network develops in response to its environment by adapting the strengths of the connections with a learning algorithm. The final state of the network is determined by the initial architecture, the environment and the learning algorithm.
