ABSTRACT
The removal of the ovaries has an important influence on the endocrine status of the pre-menopausal patient, since she will have, in effect, undergone the menopause in minutes rather than months. For this reason, unless contraindicated by the clinical circumstances, such patients may be given hormone replacement therapy.
