ABSTRACT

Another infection that is not sexually transmitted is bacterial vaginosis. It causes a profuse, watery discharge with a fishy odour which is frequently worse after sexual intercourse. The bacteria responsible for anaerobic infections are normally present in small numbers within the vagina and only cause symptoms if their numbers increase. Like Candida, anaerobic infections thrive in a non-acid environment, and they can also become recurrent causing psychological and psycho-sexual problems.
