ABSTRACT
Many patients interpret the operation of hysterectomy as meaning that their entire gynaecological apparatus will be removed and some may even believe that sexual intercourse will not then be possible. It is therefore important that the gynaecologist explains exactly what structures are to be removed and how the patient’s future life will be affected.
