ABSTRACT

Cervical polyps are fleshy structures usually found protruding from the external cervical os and attached to the wall of the canal by a thin stalk (pedicle). Being vascular, they often present as causes of post-coital or intermenstrual bleeding. Most polyps can be removed by grasping them with a suitable instrument and rotating them several times. This breaks the thin stalk after first occluding the blood vessels which run within it.
