ABSTRACT

In this final chapter we aim to do four things. First, we summarise the main conclusions and findings of the preceding chapters. Second, we draw out what we feel to be the implications of our study for research into small business and the sociology of youth. Third, we spell out the conclusions of our research for public policy in the realms of youth education, training, employment and enterprise. In particular, we will focus upon recommendations for the Enterprise Allowance Scheme and local enterprise industries. Finally, we attempt to broaden our perspective to explore the values and politics of the enterprise decade and to explore an alternative agenda for Britain in the 1990s.
