ABSTRACT
This chapter presents the results of the work on reviewing the documented data policies of the organisations contacted during the study described in Chapter 1. The chapter is divided into five main categories of organisation, namely statistical institutes, mapping agencies, institutes for natural resources, environmental monitoring organisations and the Earth observation sector. For each category the discussion follows the six data policy themes running throughout this book, namely ownership, intellectual property rights, standards and metadata, licensing, pricing policy and archiving policy.
