ABSTRACT
This book deals with arithmetic predominantly as a specific ability; or rather, as a constellation of potentially separable abilities. There are many examples in this book of people with specifically impaired, or specifically preserved, arithmetic. However, arithmetic does on average correlate with other abilities. When discussing individual differences in arithmetic, it is necessary to consider how it relates to these other abilities.
