ABSTRACT

238This study investigated the sorts of errors made by able high school students at the end of a semester-long Pascal class. Several classes were given a screening test, and each student that displayed a reasonable number of errors was given an individual “clinical” interview. This chapter reports the sorts of errors noted and their frequencies. Further, a crude classification into “surface” and “deep” errors is proposed; finally, we speculate about how easy it would be to remediate the different types of errors.
