ABSTRACT
The major purpose of this chapter is to detail what source, message, medium, receiver, and comprehension are taken to mean in the present investigation. Chapter 3 then details how these concepts were “operationalized” (that is, translated into empirical form) so that they could be studied. Because it represents our central focus, the greatest attention in Chapter 2 is devoted to considering the concept of comprehension/ miscomprehension.
