ABSTRACT

Today’s elderly who are being taken care of by a family member or by paid help are part of an elite club of 22.4 million individuals (21% of U.S. households) receiving care in the United States. Take a look in your own neighborhood. That means one in four households has someone at home requiring help. The care receivers who are over 85 years of age are part of the fastest-growing segment of the population. Half of them need some help with personal care.
