ABSTRACT
The topic of this chapter is aspect, which is the nontemporal, internal contour of an event. The current literature contains number of excellent surveys of the subject (Ghung and Timberlake 1985; Comrie 1976b; Dahl 1985; Talmy 1985), and we rely on these studies in our subsequent discussion of the issues and facts surrounding aspect.
