ABSTRACT

We have worked with and around the application and evaluation of computers in education and training for over 30 years and have witnessed few eternal truths.

Consider the following:

l. Repeatedly, we have observed that a wave of blind enthusiasm greeted each new technology. Be it hardware or software, mainframe or personal computers, it was advertised with such overstatement and promise that the naive training or educational users saw the innovation as a technological savior for all (or a good portion) of the training and/or educational system deficiencies.
