ABSTRACT

In this book, the CBT model associated with Beck has been described. It is important to be aware that there are alternative models of CBT, and the most important of these are (arguably) behavioural therapy, rational emotive behavioural therapy and, more recently, acceptance and commitment therapy and dialectic behavioural therapy. In this chapter, these approaches, particularly behavioural therapy, for which there is a very strong evidence base, will be described. In doing this, it will be considered how these approaches compare to the Beck model.
