ABSTRACT
This final section presents discussions of problems and prospects for the field of intelligent computer-assisted language learning (ICALL) from several perspectives: experimental psychology (MacWhinney), linguistics (Bailin), second language acquisition (Garrett), and second language teaching and learning (Oxford, Garrett). The authors tackle the question of what to make of the systems presented in this book: What can they be expected to contribute to practice, to research, to theory?
