ABSTRACT
Our interest in this topic was initiated a few years ago when two of us (MG and ED) met at a narrative conference. Unexpectedly, we began to share stories as mothers of young adult children and laughed at the competing anecdotes emerging in our conversation. We may have been thinking about this for some time on our own, but it somehow became articulated in the conversation in a way that surprised us both.
