ABSTRACT
Appeasement is comprised of elements of pacification, conciliation and submission. It is one of the key mammalian defences, and one about which I have said little so far. If PTSD is an overactivation state of human and other animals’ defensive strategies, there is no reason why a major strategy should be omitted. An evolutionary theory that does not include all the key defences is highly suspect, in my opinion, or is at least missing something.
