ABSTRACT

The largest religious tradition in the world is Christianity, which includes approximately 2 billion members. Islam is the second largest religion with approximately one and a half billion members. Judaism contains approximately 13.2 million members, and Hinduism has approximately 750 million members with about 1,250,000 followers currently living in the United States. Finally, approximately 353 million Buddhists exist in the world, with 2 million in North America. All statistics have been rounded upward for brevity (Barrett & Johnson, 1998).
