ABSTRACT

I have long been involved with sexual research, sexual education, and sexual therapy. For the last several decades my interests have heavily focused on sexual pharmacology. I have had the privilege to participate in the design and the conduct of clinical trials of sildenafil and other prosexual drugs. In this chapter, I hope to share my experiences with you as a “supervisor,” to assist you in the evaluation and conduct of your early cases of older single men and couples with erectile dysfunction (ED). Although I use only heterosexual examples in my discussion, please remember that older homosexual men are not in any way exempt from the biological, psychological, and interpersonal forces discussed here.
