ABSTRACT

What does the future hold for psychoanalysis? Time itself prompts the question, the centenary of the movement coinciding, as it has, with the end of the millennium. Will the beginning of a new century, the dawn of a new aeon, bring with it an essential change in the spirit of the age? And, if so, will psychoanalysis continue to have relevance? Or will the new era before us require entirely different perspectives? Our practices are down. Will psychoanalysis go the way of the dinosaur and the dodo?
