ABSTRACT

If an organisation wants to be seen as having a ‘human side’, counselling can no longer be regarded as an ‘optional extra’. In fact, Orlans and Edwards (2001) suggest that organisations are no longer asking whether they should have counselling, but what form it should take. They believe that failing to see counselling as part of their system is highly disadvantageous to organisations that acknowledge its relevance merely as an add-on in times of crisis.
