ABSTRACT

The horizon is the limit to which our gaze can uninterruptedly reach, enclosing us beneath a shared celestial vault. India, China and various societies of the past, like those of Egypt and of many other great civilizations, lie beyond the European horizon, and for reasons which are more than geographic: they are not continuous with Western culture. More than any other, and thanks to its tendency for globalization, it is Western civilization which has exported its patriarchy throughout the world.
