ABSTRACT
Based on geological structure, Central Asia can be subdivided into several large regions (Grozdetsky, 1981): (1) the Turansky Plain; (2) Caledonian and Hercynian mountains of the Tien Shan; (3) the plains and low mountains of Central Kazakhstan; and (4) the alpine mountains of the Kopetdag range and Pamir.
