ABSTRACT

The Asiago Plateau, also called the plateau of 7 ‘Comuni’, is the largest mountain group in the Venetian Pre-Alps and one of the main caving regions in Italy. The plateau area covers c. 600 km2 and is c. 25 km long (north-south) and up to 30 km wide, being delimited by large and steep scarps (Figure 1). The range in elevation is from a few hundred metres to an altitude of 2300 m.
