ABSTRACT
The first female architect registered by the states of New York and Pennsylvania, Anna Wagner Keichline distinguished herself by inventing the K brick, a forerunner to the concrete block. She also invented the compressed air radiator-dryer, as well as kitchen appliances and devices, a wall-mounted folding bed, and toys. Born in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, on May 5, 1889, she began making furniture for her family before completing studies at the Cornell School of Architecture in 1911.
