ABSTRACT
The underlying geology and the overlying climate are at the core of understanding the Everglades. With the modern focus on the ecosystem’s restoration, knowing the region’s geology has gained added importance. To set the stage for exploring the Everglades, this chapter probes beneath the surface into the geologic setting of the Everglades region.
